The Annual General Meeting of the Future Marketers Association (FMA) was successfully held on 2 nd of September, 2020 at the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies auditorium with the presence of the Head of the Department of Marketing Management- Dr. Ravi Dissanayake, panel of lecturers at DMM, former board members and Department undergraduates. The Meeting commenced with the gathering been officially welcomed and former board members taking seats at the head table. Following a video bringing back the eventful memories from the past year, the outgoing secretary, Ms. Gimhani Ekanayake read the minutes of the previous meeting, which was then approved by two participants from the last year’s meeting. Ms.Gimhani also extended her gratitude to the lecturers and all other individuals who guided and supported her throughout her term of work.

Next, certificates were awarded to the former board members for the positions they’ve held and the tremendous work they’ve carried out during their terms by the Head of the department, Dr. Ravi Dissanayake and Senior Lecturer Mr. Wasantha Kumara. Dr. Ravi Dissanayake then addressed the gathering as he shared his insights emphasized the expected contribution from the FMA as a student body and how leadership skills of the students can be strengthening through actively engaging in the FMA activities. The meeting was then followed by the speech of the chief coordinator of the Future Marketers Association, Mr. Nisal Gunawardane as he shared his experience on how the FMA has grown to what it is now and how it helps to mold true strategists. He also stated his expectations for the future of the FMA and wished the fresh, yet to be appointed members for a successful year ahead. The event was then proceeded with the appointment of the new executive board and the sub directors of which Mr. Asitha Fernando was appointed as the President, Mr. Bhagya Bandara as Vice President, Ms. Thisarika Udayangi and Ms. Mayumi Ishara as the secretaries and Mr. Themalka Prasad as the junior treasurer of the Future Marketers Association for the term 2020/2021. The former president, Mr. Udara Heendeniya extended his heartiest congratulations to the freshly appointed board and thanked his co-members and everyone who helped him and his team to achieve what was then thought as impossible. He concluded his speech by sharing his experience on how success can be achieved if and only if the efforts are cumulative. Afterwards, the new president Mr. Asitha Fernando addressed the gathering with a face full of dreams and hopes for the term yet to come, stating his expectations and how he will try his level best to reflect the true leader which was earlier defined by Mr. Ravi Dissanayake.
