Celebrating a decade of collaboration and Commitment - The 10th Inauguration Ceremony of Diploma in People Skills
On 29th May 2025, the Department of Marketing Management (DMM) at the University of Kelaniya proudly hosted the 10th inauguration ceremony of the Diploma in People Skills (DPS). This significant event took place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies with the presence of Dr.Sugeeth Patabendige, Head - Department of Marketing Management, Ms.Li San - Group Chief Operating Officer as the Keynote speaker, respected members of the academic staff, industry partners from Nestlé Lanka, Mr.Chinthaka Chathuranga - Category Manager, Ms.Savindi Pathirana - HR representative, and from Unilever Sri Lanka, Ms.Venuri Fonseka - Finance Executive and from Dialog Axiata PLC, Ms.Sanaree Godagama, Ms. Himandi Abeyrathna, and Dr.Mahesh Jayasinghe - External resource person, marking a commitment to equipping students with essential people skills vital for their future careers.
The ceremony began with the university anthem. Ms. Nilakshi Subasinghe, the coordinator of the Diploma in People Skills Program, delivered the welcome speech. She extended her greetings to all attendees, including esteemed guests, faculty members, industry partners, and undergraduates from the 1st year and the 2nd year.
Dr. Sugeeth Patabandige, the Head of the Department, provided insightful program instructions. He emphasized the structure and expectations of the Diploma, highlighting each module. Dr. Patabandige’s words resonated with the audience, reinforcing the program's relevance in preparing undergraduates for real-world challenges. The highlight of the ceremony was the keynote address delivered by Ms. Li San, Group Chief Operating Officer of Dialog Axiata PLC. The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Hansika Bandara, co-coordinator of the Diploma in People Skills. He expressed gratitude to all the attendees, including guests, academic staff, industry partners, and undergraduates, for their presence, emphasizing the collaborative spirit essential for the program’s success.
