DMM Soorya Mangalya 2025 – A Celebration of Tradition, Togetherness & Twenty Years of Excellence
The vibrant spirit of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year came alive at "DMM Soorya Mangalya 2025", the annual awurudu festival organized by the Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya. This year’s celebration held extra significance, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the department’s remarkable journey.
Held on April 24th, 2025, from 8:00 AM onwards at Playground No. 02, the festival transformed the university premises into a hub of joy, laughter, and cultural pride. The event was graced by the Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Prof. W.M.C.B. Wanninayake, and the Head of the Department of Marketing Management, Dr. Sugeeth Patabendige, who together lit the flame of tradition and leadership that continues to guide the department forward. The entire DMM family – students, academic, and non-academic staff – came together to celebrate this momentous occasion. The event was a colorful showcase of traditional Sinhala games, music, and dance, reminding everyone of the deep cultural roots that continue to shape Sri Lankan identity.
This year’s Soorya Mangalya was not just a New Year celebration; it was a testament to two decades of unity, growth, and innovation within the Department of Marketing Management. As the department steps into a new era, this milestone event reflected its commitment to honoring tradition while striving toward a brighter future.
