Department of Marketing Management Launches First-Ever Digital Monthly Newsletter: Impact Marketer
The Future Marketers Association, the official student body of the Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya, proudly celebrated the successful launch of its first-ever digital monthly newsletter, Impact Marketer, on the 29th of April 2025. This momentous event was held at the FCMS Auditorium and was attended by a distinguished gathering of undergraduates of the department, academic staff, and the Guest of Honour, who is one of the proud alumni of the department.
This pioneering initiative was led by the Editorial Avenue of the Future Marketers Association, marking a significant milestone as the first digital newsletter introduced by the Department of Marketing Management. The newsletter stands as a testament to the department’s commitment to fostering creativity, communication, and professionalism among its undergraduates, while also keeping the wider university and industry community informed about its ongoing activities, achievements, and initiatives.
The highlight of the event was the presence of the Guest of Honour, Mr. Chinthaka Wegapitiya - Cheif Executive Officer of LAUGFS Corporation (Rubber) Ltd, the Founding President of the Future Marketers Association and an esteemed alumnus of the department. His journey from university leadership to corporate excellence has been both inspiring and impactful. During his address, Mr. Wegapitiya shared his experiences about the beginning of the Future Marketers Association and the first newsletter launched by the association, the role of student-led initiatives in career development, and the lifelong benefits of staying connected with one’s alma mater. He also brought along the hard copy of the very first magazine ever published by the Future Marketers Association of the Department of Marketing Management, creating a nostalgic and memorable moment for all attendees. His speech resonated deeply with the audience and served as a powerful reminder of the potential that lies within every marketing undergraduate.
The launch ceremony featured a formal unveiling of Impact Marketer, followed by a walkthrough of its first edition. The newsletter showcases a blend of student-written articles, departmental highlights, interviews, event summaries, and contributions from academic staff and alumni, reflecting the vibrant culture of the Department of Marketing Management. It aims to be a monthly publication that not only informs but also inspires — acting as a platform where knowledge, ideas, and achievements converge. Speaking at the event, the Chief Editor of the Editorial Avenue expressed her gratitude to all contributors and emphasized the collaborative spirit that brought Impact Marketer to life. She also outlined the vision for the publication, which includes expanding content diversity, featuring more alumni voices, and exploring interactive digital formats in future editions. The launch concluded on a high note with a vote of thanks and enthusiastic appreciation from the audience. It marked a proud moment for the department and set the stage for a new tradition of knowledge sharing and student engagement.
