Former captain of the University of Kelaniya carrom team, Y.P.M. Mendis, is a graduate of the Department of Marketing Management who was awarded university colors for 4 consecutive years for his standout performances. Among his numerous achievements in both university level and national level, year 2019

was a remarkable year for him as he was awarded the Best Sportsman at the university colors award ceremony. It should also be noted that he received the best fresher sportsman of the year award at the university colors awards ceremony 2016 when he was a 1st year undergraduate. He won the Grip to Grip carrom tournament championship for four straight years from 2016 to 2019 and the 2019 Sri Lanka University Games championship. He was also awarded Sri Lanka University Sports Association colors in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
