MBA Kelaniya Commences Enrolment of the 16th Main Intake

MBA Kelaniya, the flagship masters’ program of the Faculty of Management Studies is one of the well-established programs in Sri Lanka. Since its inspection, it has been striving to develop sharp business leaders who can provide an enterprising and entrepreneurial approach to management. The promise of Kelaniya MBA is to provide an excellent learning experience facilitated by innovative teaching strategies with well-qualified and experienced faculty.
The inauguration ceremony of the 16th batch of MBA Kelaniya was successfully held on the 28th of August, 2022 at the Waters Edge Hotel, Battaramulla. The inauguration was graced by her wishes, the vice chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Professor, Nilanthi De Silva. Dr Srilal Weerasinghe – the founder/managing director / CEO of Chirathma International (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka -  the chief guest of the occasion; Senior Professor, Kapila Senevirathna, the dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies; Dr. Narada Fernando, the dean of Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Mr. Dharshana Maldeniya, the president of MBA Alumni Association; Dr. Ruwani Fernando, the coordinator of MBA Kelaniya and Dr. Srinath Dissanayake, the technical coordinator of MBA Kelaniya; members of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, and students participated at the inauguration.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with the address of the coordinator of the program, Dr. Ruwani Fernando. Welcoming and gracing the newcomers, she addressed them mentioning the need for a masters’ education for career development.
Dr. Narada Fernando expressed the faculty perspective of the program. He appreciated the trajectory of Kelaniya MBA citing its progress. Moreover, Senior Professor Kapila Seneviratha expressed his viewpoints from the graduate studies perspective. He mentioned the facilities and conducive environment that the University of Kelaniya has offered for students to enrich students learning experience.
Dr. Srilal Weerasinghe, the chief guest of the event, emphasized the need of breaking the comfort zone for students’ development. He expressed the need for planning ahead and being proactive in successfully diverging in competitive environments.
Mr. Dharshana Maldeniya, the president of MBA Alumni Association shared his experiences being an Alumni member. He stated the importance of networking achieved through Alumni. Finally, Concluding remarks and a vote of thanks were proposed by Dr. Srinath Dissanayake. He once more thanked the attendees of the event requesting students to engage fully for a successful educational endeavour.
A session on Managerial Skills development was conducted on the same day with the new learning partners. The resource persons of the session was Dr. Ajith Medis, Senior Lecturer, Department of Marketing Management, University of Kelaniya and Mr. Chinthaka Mahesh, Directory Operations, Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
