Launching Ceremony of Bachelor of Business Management Honors in Accounting Information Systems Degree

The launching ceremony of the Bachelor of Business Management Honors in Accounting Information Systems (AIS) Degree was held on Wednesday, 22 June 2022 from 10.00 a.m. onwards at the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya.

 

This is the first-ever bachelor’s degree in Accounting Information Systems offered by a Sri Lankan University. The Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya offered this new degree to its first batch of students this year. The motivation behind introducing this AIS Degree was to expose the changing role of an accountant with the development of Information & Communication Technology while to catering to the emerging opportunities available for graduates in the national and international job markets.

 

Graduates who successfully complete AIS degree will become techno-savvy professionals who can work for digitally transformed business organizations performing various job roles as Business System Analysts, ERP Consultants, Data Analysts, System Auditors, Business System Security Officers, Financial Consultants etc.

 

Every year 50 students who choose Information & Communication Technology or Business Statistics with Accounting and another one subject including Business Studies or Economics  for G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examination will get the opportunity to enroll to this degree program.

 

The launching ceremony of AIS Degree was graced by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University as the Chief Guest, Dr. Narada Fernando, Dean-Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Mr. Kasun Ariyadasa, Director, IFS Sri Lanka as the Keynote Speaker, Prof. Dilrukshi Yapa Abeywardhana, Head-Department of Accountancy, Professors, Senior Lecturers and Lecturers of the department including all the students who were enrolled for the 1^st batch of this degree.
