Industry Advisory Committee Discussion on Internship in Accounting Information Systems

The Industry Advisory Committee Discussion on Internship in Accounting Information Systems, organized by the Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems Degree programme, Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya held successfully on 09^th February 2023 at 06.00 pm via zoom platform. Industry experts representing various fields contributed to the discussion namely Mr.Kasun Ariyadasa, Director, IFS Sri Lanka; Ms.Harshani Randiligama, Group General Manager, Vallibel One PLC; Mr.Kapila Jayasundara, Head of Finance, Dipped Products PLC; Mr.Damith Gamage, Partner, Ernst and Young; Ms.Pramila Liyanage, Finance Manager, Singer Sri Lanka PLC; Mr.Suranga De Silva, Senior Manager, Virtusa; Mr.Dilusha Perera, Manger- Digitization, MAS; and Mr.Thushan Amarasuriya, CEO, Singer Finance PLC. With a welcome note of Professor Dilrukshi Yapa Abeywardhana, Head of the Department of Accountancy followed by an introduction to the discussion by Ms. Dilini Aruppala. The discussion progressed on six important themes to develop the “Internship in Accounting Information Systems” programme. Discussion was moderated by Mr. Malintha Perera, Coordinator - Bachelor of Business Management Honours in Accounting Information Systems Degree programme with the support of Mr.Lalitha Silva, Mr.Viraj Weerawickrama, Mr.Ashen Rajapaksha and Mr.Malinda Herath representing the academic team of the degree programme. All academic members of the Department of Accountancy actively participated in the discussion adding academic expertise. The discussion successfully convened, leaving many valuable insights by industry experts to strengthen the degree programme and to produce employable graduates.
