CBI Conducts an Awareness Program for the Undergraduates in the Kelaniya University

A larger number of entrepreneurial intentions do not translate into action owing to the liabilities of newness and one such predominant liability includes the access to finance. In this spirit, the Central Business Incubator (CBI) in association with the Regional Development Bank of Sri Lanka conducted an awareness session on financial and other related facilities that undergraduates can capitalize in their venturing motivations. The event was held on 15th of June 2023 in the Department of Commerce and Financial Management premises.
Including the chairman of the RDB, Mr. Susantha De Silva, Mr. L.A.R. Fernando, the Assistant General Manager – Marketing, Mr. Hasitha Amarasinghe, Manager – Digital Banking, and Mr. Saman Priyankara, Senior Manager – Credit contributed for the event. Representing the university, the Director of the CBI, Dr. Srinath Dissanayake, Ms. Deepani Wijethunga, the coordinator of the entrepreneurship stream of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, and Mr. Dulip Anuranga, a senior lecturer of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management participated in the discussions.
There were over 30 undergraduates representing almost every faculty participated in the session. The chairman and the other representatives of RDB discussed various avenues that the University of Kelaniya undergraduates can capitalize in their venturing aspirations. This awareness sessions considered as an initial step to translate undergraduates’ entrepreneurial intention to action. According to the director of CBI further discussions are being progressed with the RDB to facilitate undergraduate entrepreneurship.
