About ICARE 2025

The Department of Accountancy (DoA) was established in the year 1999, and it is one of the leading departments in the Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, with 20 years of academic excellence. The cornerstone of DoA’s success has been attributed to its uncompromising commitment to maintaining high academic standards and engagement in extracurricular activities. In line with DoA’s commitment to developing and advancing the accountancy profession, the Department of Accountancy initiated the ICARE in 2015.

The ICARE serves as a dynamic platform for nurturing knowledge exchange on emerging trends, theoretical advancements, and practical innovations in the field of accounting. With a steadfast commitment to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ICARE brings together leading academics and practitioners to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration. This year, under the theme “From Awareness to Action: Developing a Blueprint for Combating Financial Fraud in Sri Lanka”, the conference takes on a transformative role, expanding its scope beyond traditional academic discourse to address pressing real-world challenges. The Students’ Conference of Day one (01) will be held on 21st May 2025 at the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya from 2.00 pm onwards and it includes Students' Research Abstract Book Launching, Undergraduates' Research Poster Presentations and a 5 Minute (5MT) Competition following a Preliminary Discussion of the Technical Forum. The Day two (02) will be held on 22nd May 2025 at Lotus Hall, BMICH from 5.30 pm onwards and it consists with ICARE Magazine launching following a Technical Forum with two (02) panel of experts that will be topical and engaging with wide range of participants with the aim of bringing them into one platform and brainstorming in combating financial frauds in Sri Lanka.

By integrating academic sessions into two technical sessions, ICARE 2025 offers a unique opportunity for industry experts, researchers and educators to collectively explore cutting-edge strategies, share actionable insights and develop practical solutions to combat financial fraud. This holistic approach enriches the academic landscape and empowers stakeholders to translate awareness into tangible action, paving the way for a more resilient and ethical financial ecosystem in Sri Lanka and beyond.

Panel Discussion -ICARE 2025

Day 1

Day One of ICARE 2025, held at the University of Kelaniya, places a strong emphasis on student engagement and academic research. The day features several key highlights, including the launch of the Students' Research Abstract Book, a vibrant display of undergraduate research poster presentations, and the much-anticipated 5-Minute Thesis (5MT) competition. A preliminary technical forum sets the stage for an in-depth exploration of the conference theme, led by a distinguished panel of industry experts.

Day Two of the conference take place on Thursday, 22nd May 2025, at Lotus Hall, BMICH, shifting the focus to expert-led discussions and policy formulation. The day commenced with the launch of the ICARE Magazine, followed by two impactful technical forums featuring eminent speakers across sectors.

5 Minute Research Challenge: Undergraduates will take the stage, distilling their thesis proposals into engaging narratives within a mere five minutes. It's a showcase of their ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, setting the stage for meaningful dialogues and fostering a culture of concise articulation.

Students’ Abstract Book Publication: This event is a testament to the dedication and scholarly pursuit of our fourth-year undergraduates. The Abstract Book compiles the essence of their theses, showcasing their intellectual prowess and research acumen.
