The Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bank of Ceylon on 15th September 2025 at the Senate Room of the University of Kelaniya.
The main objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) are to strengthen academic–industry linkages and to promote entrepreneurial growth opportunities.
Thus, this MoU would create opportunities for collaborations, capacity building, mentorship, and financial assistance that empower students in the department.
The ceremony was graced by Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya; Professor W. M. C. B. Wanninayake, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; and Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi, Head, Department of Commerce & Financial Management. Mr. R.M.N. Jeewantha, Deputy General Manager (Department Banking and Branch Credit Operations Range 2), Mr. Samantha Wimalasiri, Assistant General Manager (Consumer and Development Banking), Mr. Laksiri Rathnayake, Senior Manager (Consumer and Development Banking Division) and Mr N.W. Wasantha, Senior Manager (Consumer and Development Banking Division) were participated representing Bank of Ceylon.
The event was also attended by Mr. K.K.K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar, University of Kelaniya and all the professors, senior lecturers and lecturers of the Department of Commerce & Financial Management. The partnership is expected to open new opportunities for undergraduate training and collaborative initiatives that will benefit both students and the academic community.
