The Association of Business and Technology successfully held the Young Business Technology Entrepreneurial Researchers' Congress 2024 (YBTER) on 29th November 2024 at the ICT Auditorium. Themed "In Search of Startup Innovation," the event served as a platform for 3rd-year BT students to present their entrepreneurial ideas and solutions to current business and technological challenges.
The competition featured 10 teams, with their presentations evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges:
- Dr. Srinath Dissanayake - Department of Commerce and Financial Management, University of Kelaniya
- Dr. Pradeep Samarasekera - Faculty of Computing and Technology, University of Kelaniya
- Mr. Thilina Karunanayake - Department of Marketing, University of Kelaniya
Each team demonstrated creativity and innovation, showcasing a variety of ideas. The winners were announced as follows:
- Winner: Team Money Mithuro, for their financial literacy mobile app, designed to improve access to financial education.
- 1st Runner-up: Urumaya SL, for their web application aimed at educating users about cultural heritage.
- 2nd Runner-up: Team Ecomart, for their mobile app supporting the second-hand product market, promoting sustainable consumer practices.
The YBTER 2024 event emphasized the importance of startup innovation and highlighted the talents of young entrepreneurs. It also provided a valuable opportunity for students to collaborate with lecturers, fostering inspiration and creativity.
