On the 10th of June 2023, the Cyber ground at the University of Kelaniya was filled with excitement and anticipation as the Student Association of Financial Management at the Department of Commerce and Financial Management (DCFM) hosted the highly-anticipated cricket championship tournament, "UOK Champions Trophy 2023".
The tournament aimed to provide a platform for participants to showcase their cricketing talents while fostering a sense of unity within the academic community. The tournament format featured several teams composed of both students and lecturers, battling it out in a series of matches. Each team displayed remarkable cricketing skills, strategic gameplay, and a strong team spirit. After several rounds of exhilarating matches, it was "Team Seven Brothers" that emerged victorious, proving their mettle and claiming the UOK Champions Trophy. Their dedication, coordination, and unwavering determination set them apart, and they rightfully earned the title of champions. The UOK Champions Trophy not only provided an opportunity for cricket enthusiasts to display their skills but also served as a catalyst for building relationships and fostering a sense of unity within the DCFM department. It allowed students and lecturers to interact in a different setting, strengthening the bond between them beyond the classroom walls. The Student Association of Financial Management at DCFM deserves commendation for organizing such a successful event that showcased the talent, passion, and competitive spirit within the university community.
