Department of Commerce and Financial Management initiated to extend its Master of Business Studies degree program to foreign countries. The department believes that this initiation would positively contribute to the country's
prevailing economic crisis.
32 Chinese students arrived in Sri Lanka on 6th June 2023 to pursue the third term of the degree in Sri Lanka after completing two successful terms of the degree in China. The University held an official welcome for the students on 13th June 2023 at the Senate room of the University of Kelaniya.
Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Senior Professor Kapila Senevirathne, the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies Professor Narada Fernando, the former Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Dr. M.M.M. Shamil, Head of the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, Dr. Madurika Nanayakkara, the Academic coordinator of the program, Mr. Harshaka Hettiarachchi, Technical Coordinator of the program, Professors, Academic staff, the administrative staff of the University and Chinese students were present at the event.
