A Poson Day Special Dhamma Program, “DHARMA MAATHRA '', was conducted by the Students’ Association of Financial Management of the University of Kelaniya, for the second time, on the 16th of June 2022, two days after the Poson Full Moon Poya Day.
“Dharma Maathra” was coordinated with the desire for bringing a “peaceful mind and a balanced life” to the undergraduates and the lecturers who are mentally and emotionally exhausted as a result of the current circumstances of the country.
The dhamma program was successfully held at the Ananda Patabendige hall, University of Kelaniya, with over 50 participants consisting of undergraduates and lecturers. The Dhamma sermon was preached by Venerable Vidyalankara Pirivenae Acharya Shastrapathi Rajakeeya Panditha Deegala Pagnavansa Thero on the invitation of the offering of deheth by the senior lecturer, Professor C. Pathirawasam.
During the session, Venerable Vidyalankara Pirivenae Acharya Shastrapathi Rajakeeya Panditha Deegala Pagnavansa Thero explained how everything is futile and ineffective when there is no proper leadership. He also emphasized the importance of Buddhism to strengthen our well-being and that our work should be done in consideration of building a peaceful society.
Towards the end of the dhamma sermon, the vote of thanks was delivered by the president of the Students’ Association of Financial Management, Uvindu Bingusara and he conveyed the assertion of appreciation to Venerable Vidyalankara Pirivenae Acharya Shastrapathi Rajakeeya Panditha Deegala Pagnavansa Thero for fulfilling our minds with the illustrations of the Lord Buddha. He also thanked the undergraduates and the lecturers for participating and making the dhamma program, “Dharma Maathra” successful.
