The Inter-University Quiz Competition is held as a parallel event of the Investment Week organised by the Finance Students' Association of the University of Kelaniya to strengthen the inter-university bond, assess the IQ level of undergraduates, and encourage the undergraduates to become knowledge seekers by bringing all the undergraduates following Finance degree programmes in all universities to one platform.
For the last seven years, the competition was an outstanding component in the Dfin Calendar. This year, for the 8th time, we are commencing the preliminary round of the Inter-University Finance Quiz Competition on the 29th of December 2021 at 9.30 a.m. We are pleased to announce that with us there are ten competitive national and international universities.
This the season to be Merry!“Frosts of love” is a virtual Christmas celebration contemplating the joy of brightening others’ lives, kindling the fire of love and gratitude in our hearts. It is a perfect way to Thank each other for an amazing year amidst of a pandemic, ahead of heading to 2022.The event comprised of a carol service reflecting the true spirit of Christmas, entertaining games and songs sung by our department undergraduates.This event was organized by the first-year undergraduates, presented by the Finance Student’s Association, Department of Finance of the University of Kelaniya.“Christmas waves a magic wand over the world and behold; everything is more beautiful.”
Finance Awards Ceremony
The “Finance Awards Ceremony” by the Department of Finance was held on the 10th of December 2021 at the University of Kelaniya.
The event mainly consisted of two sub-events which were named “Finance Interns Award Ceremony” and “3MT Competition”. As a part of this event, the “Finance Interns Award Ceremony” was conducted with the aim of appreciating and celebrating the interns who have successfully completed their internships in Finance, Insurance, and Banking. In the year 2021, Ms. Sandali Sudasinghe won the Best Intern Award (Most Outstanding Performance in Internship in Finance) and the cash prize for obtaining the highest marks at the internship.
For the 02nd consecutive time, the Department of Finance, University of Kelaniya, held " 3MT" contest initiated by Senior Lecturer Dr. Ruwani Fernando. The “3MT Contest” gives the opportunity to present their dissertation in Finance of 10,000 words in 03 minutes time duration. At the final round, each of the 07 finalists made an impassioned speech on their research and the impact it could have on society. The Panel of Judges consisted of Senior Lecturer Dr. Nisansala Wijekoon, Senior Lecturer Dr. Madhurika Nanayakkara, and Senior Lecturer Dr. Prabhashini Wijewantha. In the year 2021, Ms. Sandali Sudasinghe won the 3MT competition and 3MT People’s Choice Award. Moreover, at this event, certificates were presented to 10 students who performed well in their dissertation.
Senior Lecturer Dr. P. N. D. Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies was the Chief Guest of the event while Mr. Thushan Amarasuriya, Chief Executive Officer- Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC participated as the Guest of Honour. Further, Prof. Ruwan Abeyesekera, Head- Department of Finance, other academic staff members, and the students of the Department of Finance graced this ceremony.

මෙවර අ.පො.ස. උසස් පෙළ විභාගයට වාණිජ අංශයෙන් පෙනී සිටින ඔබ වෙනුවෙන් කැලණිය විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයීය, මූල්‍ය අධ්‍යයනාංශයේ මුල්‍ය ශිෂ්‍ය සංගමය විසින් සංවිධානය කරනු ලබන, "ශිල්ප" ව්‍යාපාර අධ්‍යයනය සම්මන්ත්‍රණ මාලාව ඔක්තෝම්බර් මස 11, 12 හා 13 යන තෙදින තුළ පෙ.ව. 9.00 සිට ප.ව. 12.30 දක්වා Zoom (100% Data Free) සහ YouTube Live ඔස්සේ පැවැත්වේ.
මෙම සම්මන්ත්‍රණයේ දී ඔක්තෝම්බර් මස 11 සහ 12 යන දෙදින තුළ ව්‍යාපාර අධ්‍යයනය විෂයට අදාළව වැදගත් සහ ගැටළු සහගත විෂය කරුණු ආවරණය කෙරෙන අතර ඔක්තෝම්බර් 13 වන දිනය තුළ ප්‍රශ්න පත්‍රයක සැකැස්ම, කාල කළමණාකරණය පිළිබඳ වැඩසටහනක් හා විශේෂ අභිප්‍රේරණ වැඩසටහනක් ද පැවැත්වේ.
එසේම මෙම සම්මන්ත්‍රණ මාලාවට සමගාමීව අ.පො.ස උසස් පෙළ වාණිජ විෂය ධාරාවට අදාළ ලිපි ඇතුළත් "මූල්‍ය විමසුම" සඟරාව දොරට වැඩීම හා ව්‍යාපාර අධ්‍යයනය ප්‍රශ්න විචාරාත්මක තරඟයේ ආරම්භය ද සිදුකෙරේ.

DFin Beats
"DFin Beats" provides a platform for undergraduates to unleash their innate talents which had to be kept under cover as they do not have access to perform on a physical stage at present.
"DFin Beats" provides a platform for undergraduates to unleash their innate talents which had to be kept under cover as they do not have access to perform on a physical stage at present.
DFin Beats comprises of five main item categories such as DFin Step up, DFin Melodies, DFin Theatre, DFin Talk and DFin Innovation. After a series of preliminary rounds held for each event category, now the much-awaited moment has finally arrived to witness the grandeur of its grand finale on, Thursday, 12th of August 2021 from 5 p.m. onwards.
Donating a fully facilitated IT unit to Meegahagoda Kanishta Vidyalaya, Ahangama
With an understanding of the importance of technology in education during Covid19 pandemic situation the first year students of the Department of Finance, University of Kelaniya planned to donate a fully facilitated IT unit to Meegahagoda Kanishta Vidyalaya, Ahangama. The proposed IT unit has been completed with the. equal contribution of all the DFIN first year students. The opening ceremony of the IT unit will be held on 10th April 2021 from 10.00 am onwards. First year students of the Department of Finance cordially invite you to take part in this precious event via Zoom / Facebook platforms.
