The Department of Commerce and Financial Management (DCFM) is the pioneer of Commerce and Management education at the University of Kelaniya. The origin of the department dates back to the late 1970s. Since then, it has remained the cornerstone of business education at the University of Kelaniya. Also, it is the largest department in the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS) in terms of student intake.
As a responsible department of the faculty, the prime objective of the DCFM is to provide both undergraduate and postgraduate students with all the necessary knowledge, skills, and training in order to create proud and quality graduates. The DCFM is committed to ensuring that its graduates are well-equipped to adapt to a wide range of working environments, thus it regularly reviews and revises its curricula. Thus, the domain of the DCFM is unique and independent in every aspect from the other degree programs offered by the parent faculty and elsewhere in Sri Lanka.
