The FCMS of University of Kelaniya is firmly committed to establish itself as a valued institution of higher teaching and learning, through the quality, accessibility and continuity of its award programs. FCMS is especially proud of its contribution in the field of business and management to the economy. Thus it is with a sense of achievement that FCMS introduced an innovative doctorate in business, “Doctor of Business Administration” (DBA) for the first time to the Sri Lankan national university system in 2016.

Inauguration Ceremony of the Doctor of Business Administration 2021
The inauguration ceremony of the 06th intake of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) was held on 31st of July 2021 at the Sunil Shantha Memorial Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies.
DBA offered by the University of Kelaniya is the first DBA programme offered by a state university of Sri Lanka. Recognizing the massive demand in the private sector for a higher end qualification, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies of the University of Kelaniya has introduced DBA which has been specifically designed to the elite corporate.
Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya graced the event virtually as the Chief Guest. Senior Lecturer Dr. P. N. D. Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Prof. C. Pathirawasam, Coordinator- Doctor of Business Administration, Dr. (Eng.) Sanath Divakara, Director (Manufacturing)-Macson Mesh Industries (Pvt) Ltd and Dr. Nuwan Wimalana, Chairman- DBA Alumni of Kelaniya University were present at the occasion. Selected applicants of the programme joined the event virtually.
Doctor of Business Administration Case Study Symposium 2021 (Online Conference)
Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) Business Case Study Symposium for the 05th batch of the program was held on the 05th of November 2021 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies. Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, it was held virtually. Learning partners of the DBA program presented their case stories in the presence of industry practitioners. The chief guest was Dr. P.N.D. Fernando, Dean- Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies. The keynote speaker was Prof. Goh See Kwong, Associate Professor, Head of School- School of Management & Marketing, Taylor’s University, Malaysia. Prof. C. Pathirawasam, Coordinator- DBA Programme, Prof. D. M. R. Dissanayake, Subject Leader-Business Case Studies, and students of the 05th batch participated in this event.
