The League of Leaders Presentation Competition Grand Finale 2023, hosted by the Commerce Club of the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, University of Kelaniya on 26th of September 2023 at Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies Auditorium was a magnificent celebration of eloquence, knowledge, and the power of effective communication. The event commenced with a powerful opening statement, emphasizing the importance of confident knowledge delivery and the impact of words and visuals. Hosts Kavindya Dulangi and Dinura Liyanage, 3rd-year undergraduates of the department, set the stage for a day filled with passion, knowledge, and creativity. Distinguished guests, including the dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Prof. W. M. C. B. Wanninayake, The head of the Department, Department of Commerce and Financial Management, University of Kelaniya, Dr. M. M. M. Shamil and the President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka, Mr. Ken Wijayakumar, Keynote speaker of the day, and the presence of esteemed judges, Prof. Susima Weligamage from the Department of Finance, Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi lighted the traditional oil lamp. From the Department of Commerce and Financial Management, Ms. Lochana Pandithasekara from Unilever Sri Lanka, Dr. Heather Fernando from CIPM Sri Lanka, and faculty members added prestige to the occasion.
The competition featured five talented teams representing different departments, showcasing their communication and presentation skills. Team Quill from the Department of Human Resource Management, Team Inevitable Quintet from the Department of Electronics and computer science, Team Parthners from the Department of Marketing, Team Enigma from the Department of Commerce and Financial Management and Team Headhunters from the Department of Human Resource Management brought their A-game to the stage, presenting their ideas and perspectives on various topics.
The panel of judges, consisting of Prof. Susima Weligamage, Prof. H. A. K. N. S. Surangi, Ms. Lohana Pandithasekara, and Dr. Heather Fernando, had the challenging task of evaluating the presentations based on content, delivery, visuals, and overall impact. A speech by Ms. Lochana Pandithasekara from Unilever Sri Lanka emphasized the importance of soft skills in the corporate sector, providing valuable insights to the participants. The event also featured a promotional video from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka, highlighting their support for the competition. As the day reached its climax, the audience cast their votes for the most popular team, adding an element of excitement and engagement. Finally, the awards ceremony recognized the efforts and achievements of all participants, with notable accolades for the runners-up, Team Head Hunters, and the ultimate winners, Team Enigma.
