The Department of Finance at the University of Kelaniya successfully concluded its Introductory Program for the 2023/2024 academic year, held from 17th to 21st February 2025.
The program kicked off with an introduction to the department and its lecturers, followed by a dedicated mentoring session where students were grouped with lecturers for ongoing academic and personal guidance. In the evening, the Finance Students’ Association hosted an engaging ice-breaking session, helping students’ bond in a relaxed setting.
On 18th February, an outbound training session led by Mr. Amila Muthukumarana from UpEx Training & Consultancy enhanced teamwork and leadership skills. The day also included a library tour, curriculum overview, and an inspiring session with past graduates who shared their experiences and advice.
On 19th February, students attended an informative session on referring to the E-Kel pages and sessions on career planning and professional qualifications, equipping them with essential academic and career guidance.
The program concluded with an industry visit on 21st February to the Colombo Stock Exchange, Acuity Knowledge Partners, and Softlogic Life Insurance PLC, offering students valuable exposure to the finance sector.
