Helping Hand for the Needy

A charity activity was organized by the Accountancy Students’ Association (ASAK) of the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya was held on 28th April 2015 at the Sujatha Elders’ Home, Panadura.

This event was graced by Dr.M.W.Madurapperuma, Head-Department of Accountancy, Dr.P.M.C.Thilakarathne, Director-Centre for Distant and Continuity Studies, Senior Lecturer-Department of Accountancy, Mr.Prabath Perera, Senior Treasurer-ASAK, Lecturer-Department of Accountancy, Lecturers and the second year undergraduates of the Department of Accountancy.

The objective of this event is to help the needy since it is a social responsibility of each and every citizen in the country and also to improve the soft skills of the Undergraduates of the Department of Accountancy.

There were about 80 mentally and physically disordered elders and dry rations, medicine, and sanitary items were donated in order to uplift their well-being.

The entire day was spent with the elders by organizing various fun games, dancing and singing acts. The smile in the faces of these isolated elders showed their gratitude towards organizing such an activity to break their monotonous life style and reminded us that they are also a part of our society.
