The department takes measures with the best interests of delivering to be the best choice of industries’ demand for HRM graduates; the nation’s first choice for HRM postgraduate studies; and the cost-effective HR solution provider for organizations.

Since the field of Human Resource Management is very practical and professional discipline in the industry, skill component has been identified as a vital part even under the diploma level. Therefore, DHRM introduces basic HRM skills to the first year of the HDHRM as well. This enhances student competitiveness and quality of our diploma holders in the HRM job market.

Details of the Programme

The aim of the programme is to create a sound platform for all course followers to acquire knowledge in HRM with a widened competent background needed in their career prospects in facing a dynamic business environment.
The objectives of the Higher Diploma are;
  1. To offer an intellectually comprehensive preparation for careers in HRM.
  2. To develop sound theoretical knowledge in HRM.
  3. To enhance critical and analytical thinking in respect of HRM practice.
  4. To enhance the knowledge to contribute to sustainable social development through HRM ethics and practices.
At the end of the successful completion, students should be able to;
  1. demonstrate a broad range of theoretical knowledge in HRM.
  2. apply a broad range of theoretical knowledge and generic business skills into practical situations.
  3. develop analytical skills in the field of HRM in dynamic business environment.
  4. be efficient and socially responsible HRM practitioners.
  • This is a two (02) year programme.

  • Students can obtain a Higher Diploma in HRM by acquiring a total minimum of 60 credits.

  • Those who are successfully completed the HDHRM programme will be eligible to progress on to the third year of the general external degree of the University of Kelaniya.
