The Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies declared open a fully-fledged Online Lecture Theatre on the 8th of November 2017 for the use of Undergraduates of the Department of Accountancy and Master of Business (MBus) Post Graduate Students. The online lecture theatre was declared open by Prof. D.M. Semasinghe, Vice-chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.

The new online lecture theatre received blessings of the Noble Triple Gem; Seth Pirith was chanted by Ven. Dr. Kapugollawe Anandakiththi Thero, Chief Student Counsellor with Venerable Ven. Malwane Chandaratana Thero, Head of the Department of Sinhala. The primary goal of this re-launching was to enrich the existing laboratory into a fully-fledged Online Lecture Theatre, which ensures efficient and effective delivery of online lectures to local and international undergraduates and postgraduate students.

The Opening Ceremony was graced by Dr. P.N.D Fernando, Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies (FCMS), Prof. Ariyarathne Jayamaha, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dr. W.V.A.D. Karunarathne, Head of the Department of Accountancy, Other Heads of the Departments of Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, Prof. P.M.C. Thilakarathne, Director, Centre for Distance and Continuing Education, Dr. D.K.Y. Abeywardena, Director, Centre for Management Research, (FCMS), Dr. K.K. Thilakasiri, Senior Student Counsellor, (FCMS), Dr. K.D.D. Perera, Academic Coordinator of the MBus programme, Mr. H.A.P.L. Perera, Technical Coordinator of the MBus programme, Mr.C.R Thilakerathne and Ms. Nayomi Wijesinghe, Former Coordinators of the MBus programme and Academic and Non-academic staff of the Department of Accountancy.
