The launching ceremony of the Bachelor of Business Management Honors in Accounting Information Systems Degree was held on Wednesday 22nd June 2022 at 10.00 a.m. onwards at the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya.

This new degree is offered by the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya, and students for the first batch were enrolled in this year. This is the first-ever undergraduate degree in Accounting Information Systems offered by Sri Lankan University.

Department of Accountancy was motivated to propose this new degree to expose the changing role of an accountant with the development of Information and Communication Technology and also to cater to the emerging opportunities available for graduates in the national and international job markets.

Graduates who successfully complete AIS degree will become techno-savvy professionals who can work for digitally transformed business organizations. And they will be able to perform in various jobs such as Business System Analysts, ERP consultants, Data Analysts, System Auditors, Business System security officers, financial consultants etc…

Every year 50 students who do Information Communication Technology or Business Statistics with Accounting and another one subject including Business Studies or Economics will get the opportunity to enroll in this degree program.

The event was graced by the participation of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Senior Professor Nilanthi De Silva as the Chief Guest and Dr.Narada Fernando, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Mr.Kasun Ariyadasa, Director, IFS Sri Lanka as the Key Note Speaker, Prof. Dilrukshi Yapa Abeywardhana, Head of Department of Accountancy, and Professors, Senior Lecturer, Lecturers and all students who were enrolled for the 1st batch of this degree.
