Emeritus Professor E.G.Ubayachandra was the first senior professor as well as formerly the first full professor at the Department of Marketing Management of  University of Kelaniya- Sri Lanka. He is the very first scholar who was conferred the title of Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies in University of Kelaniya. With this historic event he broke the record in respect of commerce education in University of Kelaniya. His consciousness, professionalism, dexterity, academic, and research eminence are evidently proved by the details revealed here. He was the founder as well as the first unit head of the Marketing Management Unit of the University of Kelaniya. In two times he has consecutively worked as the head of two departments at the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies in the same university. His major field of specialization is Operations Management and other fields are Management Science and Economics. His transcendental trait is clinging to engage in exploration of new knowledge and disseminate it at national and international level. So far, he has scholarly compiled 35 books related to management and economics disciplines and three management related terminologies.

In addition, professor has published noticeable number of research papers, abstracts, concept papers, felicitation essays, monographs, study guides and different academic writings etc. Professor Ubayachandra has served for the Rupavahini Corporation and ITN as a resource person gracing their education programmes conducted for G.C.E.A/L students and served for the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation as an invitee for sharing the knowledge of socio-economic affairs among the general public. Further he has rendered his valuable services to Tri Forces in Sri Lanka by delivering lectures on leadership and macroeconomics issues in the country, Central Cultural Fund, Ministry of Industry, Police Department in Sri Lanka by delivering lectures on disaster management, National Institute of Education, six other state universities in Sri Lanka, technical colleges, schools and banking sector in the country. Further he has delivered lectures on labour management process in certain private sector companies in the country. Formerly as an assistant lecturer he was engaged in publishing his own writings in the newspapers and educational papers. Also, in addition to sharing his knowledge among seven state universities in Sri Lanka, he was further engaged in sowing his knowledge in the Institute of Charted Accountancy, Ayurveda College (currently Ayurveda University), Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL) and Human Resource Training Centre in Sri Lanka. Further, he was engaged in delivering lectures at inter-faculty level (Social Sciences) in the same university. He is an outstanding researcher, and his research interests are Operations Management, Marketing and Socio-Economic Perspectives. Professor Ubayachandra acted as an active member of the editorial board of esteemed university journal viz “KALYANI JOURNAL” published by the University of Kelaniya-Sri Lanka.
