Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Degree in Finance

The Department of Finance (DFin) has identified the fact that higher education is going through a paradigm shift in the 21st century. In this scenario, the dimensional changes are globalization, growing importance of knowledge and information and communication revolution that calls for changes in education and training needs for higher skills levels and continuing education, institutional change of inter- and multi-disciplinary programmes, new pedagogical approaches and flexibility are more important. The key theme to be considered here is student centered focus and the approach towards having a quality education.  Hence, the structure of Finance degree programme has been designed with a student centered focus in order to develop a sound quality management system to achieve the academic excellence. The curricular is divided into eight clusters with different objectives as discipline knowledge, communication skills, problem solving and reasoning, information literacy, interpersonal skills, cognitive skills, professional and practical skills and ethical attitudes.

  • Students are required to fully engage in the practical training, starting from second semester of the level 3. To facilitate this, lectures will be conducted in the evening during the training period. Dissertation in Finance which has 8 credits value, to be completed during level 4 and this will enhance their ability of conducting research in the area of finance and related fields.

 

  • The course units English for Business Communication (ELTU 13032) and English in Today’s World (ELTU 21012) which are offered by the English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU), are compulsory subjects and students should obtained a grade C or better in those course units. The credit values of these two courses are not taken into consideration in calculating final GPA value.

 

  • A minimum of 80% attendance is compulsory for all the course units in the level 1, 2 and first semester of level 3. Second semester of level 3 and level 4 require 50% attendance.
