This course module is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge on how principles of finance are applied in practice with emphasize on new trends emerging in the field.
Learning Outcome : aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
By the end of this course unit students should be able to:
  • describe bonds and shares
  • describe the relationship between risk and return
  • calculate cost of capital
  • describe working capital management and its application
  • apply Financial Management tools for financial decisions


Course Content : Nature of Financial Management; Financial Statement Analysis; Time value of money; Valuation of Bonds and Shares; Risk and Return; Capital Budgeting Decision; Cost of Capital;, Capital Structure; Dividend policy; Working Capital Management.

Method of Teaching & Learning:

Lectures, Class Room Discussions, Workshops and site visit to Colombo Stock Exchange.

Scheme of Evaluation:

Assignments, Presentations and End semester examination. The weights given to each component of the evaluation method is announced at the commencement of the module.
