This course module is designed to provide the students with the knowledge of economic analysis, with particular attention to basic macroeconomics concepts and principles and to discuss the effects of policy on the broader economic environment in which business decisions must be made.

At the end of this course unit students should be able to:

  • Describe the theories and concepts relating to key macroeconomic variables.
  • Describe the concept of macroeconomic equilibrium under different models and its applications.
  • Analyze the importance and effects of government policies and international trade of a country.

Course Content : Introduction to macroeconomic environment, Economy as a Circular flow of income and expenditure, Keynesian income expenditure model, Equilibrium Income Determination in IS-LM analysis, Macroeconomic Policies, Inflation and unemployment, Open economy macroeconomics.

Lectures, Tutorials, Assignments

Scheme of Evaluation:

Mid-term tests, Assignments and End semester examination.The weights given to each component of the evaluation method is announced at the commencement of the course unit.
