Aim                                            : To; (i) provide the students with relevant knowledge of conflict management and negotiation skills, (ii) and to develop needed skills and attitudes in managing conflicts and negotiations.

 

Learning Outcomes                  : On completion of the course, the students should be able to;

 

  • identify the basic concepts, frameworks and models of conflict management
  • describe the theoretical aspects of conflict management
  • explain the causalities of conflicting situations and lapses of negotiations
  • apply the new learning to organizations for better outcomes.

Course Content                     : Defining conflicts. Outcomes of conflicts, Conflict models.  Describing a conflict process. Outcomes of conflicts. Levels of conflict in organizations. Conflict resolution approaches and models. Strategies and tactics in dealing with difficult people. Negotiation; defining negotiations, parties of a negotiation, skills in negotiation, process of negotiation, how to carry out an effective negotiation. Case studies in conflict management. Case studies in negotiations.

AHEAD fight Dengue

The Association of Human Resource Escalation And Development (AHEAD) of the Department of Human Resources Management of the University of Kelaniya organized a programme on the 7th of July 2017 to distribute information leaflets to prevent Dengue which is rapidly spreading in Kelaniya area. These information leaflets are intended to guide the public in protecting themselves from the health risks of dengue.
