Course Title                           :           Project Management and Quantitative Technique

Aim                                         : To enable the students to learn quantitative techniques and resources management and apply the gained knowledge in the management decision making

Learning Outcomes               : On completion of this course unit, students should be able to;

 

  • Identify the  characteristics of different types of decision-making environments and the appropriate decision making approaches and tools to be used in each type
  • Identify the basics of project management
  • demonstrate the skills applying quantitative techniques and project management techniques in business decision making
  • formulate mathematical models for solving the common business problems

 

Course Content                     : Introduction to quantitative techniques and project management,  Linear programming and software applications; formulation of linear programming model, graphical method of solution. The simplex method. Sensitivity analysis, Transportation problems. Assignment Problems. Decision Theory. Network analysis. Inventory model. Dynamic programming. Introduction to project management. Project planning and resourcing. Project financing, accounting and cost management. Project contracts and control systems. Project management in a changing environment. Project risk. Project human resource management and quality control. Programme management and project audit. Project integration and termination. Project simulation.
