Aim                             : To provide the knowledge of the underlying principles and techniques relating to job evaluation

Learning Outcomes               : On completion of this course unit, the student should be able to;

  • Identify and describe the process job evaluation
  • Explains causalities between job analysis and its factors
  • Analyse the aspect of real problems regarding job evaluation
  • Propose and conduct a job evaluation project

Course Content                     : Introduction; define job evaluation, importance of job evaluation. Factors to job evaluations.  Process of job evaluation; pay survey, job pricing, adjustments to individual pay, challenges of pay management. Payment systems; time rate or flat rate, piece rate or payment by results, salary structures, features of a salary structure, selecting the best payment system. Job Evaluation methods; Job ranking method, Job grading/classification method, factor comparison method, point system. Issues in Job evaluation.

The theme this time was ‘‘Peopling for Innovation’ that discussed particularly HRD issues at different performance contexts: corporates; industry; and national level. The specialty of this summit was that it congregated stakeholders from the academia, practice, policy-making process and postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
