Aim                                            : To provide the essential knowledge in the key components of human resource development and enable students to make effective interventions in issues related to human resource development.

 

Learning Outcomes : On completion of this course unit, students should be                                     able to;

 

  • identify and describe the basic concepts, frameworks, models, and practices of HRD.
  • describe and explain the theoretical aspects of HRD
  • analyse HRD issues and suggest suitable HRD interventions in resolving such issues

 

Course Content : Introduction to HRD; definitions of HRD, nature of HRD, difference between HRM and HRD, mission and purpose of HRD. Evolution of HRD; traditional and modern perspectives of HRD, criticism against traditional HRD. Scope of HRD; traditional and modern roles of HRD. Theories of HRD. HRD process. Individual development; training, learning, development, talent management, social capital development. Performance management; performance planning, conduct, performance analysis, performance review; career development process; career management, career planning, succession planning, business coaching, mentoring, feedback. .
