Aim                                            : To provide the students with intended learning experiences in providing the knowledge on and skills for HR functions covered by the course content, and intervening in students’ attitudes and emotions developments.

Learning Outcomes                  : On completion of this course unit, students should be

able to;

  • identify various functions of Human Resource Management
  • identify and describe the methods and tools of Human Resource Administration
  • explain how HR administrative functions enhance organisational performance
    • apply gained knowledge with right skills, attitudes and emotions to resolve issues related to HR administration to contribute to organizational effectiveness.

Course Content                        : Introduction to human resource administration; major functions of HR administration, their importance, strategic nature of HR administrative functions. Job designing and job analysis. Human resourcing; HR planning, recruitment, selection, orientation and socialisation. Reward management. Performance appraisal and appraisal techniques. Employee movements; transfers, promotions, dismissals and discharges, retirements. Employee record keeping. Skill practices for HR administrative functions.

The theme this time was ‘‘Peopling for Innovation’ that discussed particularly HRD issues at different performance contexts: corporates; industry; and national level. The specialty of this summit was that it congregated stakeholders from the academia, practice, policy-making process and postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
