INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BUSINESS & INFORMATION 2015

“Transcendence in Business -   Knowledge Immersed in Practice”

International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI) is the annual research conference organised by the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. This year it will be held on from 21st to 23rd of November 2015 at Pegasus Reef Hotel, Wattala, Sri Lanka. The first day (21stNovember) of the conference provides the opportunity especially for the local and international undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their research so it is the International Student Conference on Business (ISCB) which is themed as “ Contemporary Business Challenges:  Young Researchers’ Perspective”.  The second day (22nd November) on which the main conference is held and themed as “Transcendence in Business: Knowledge Immersed in Practice” is open for academics and practitioners to present and discuss their latest findings and trends in Business and Information. A country tour has been organised and on the last of the conference all the interested parties can join with this to visit the most exciting and attractive places in Sri Lanka.

Keynote

Prof. Markus Blut

Markus Blut is professor and chair in marketing at Newcastle University Business School. He was assistant professor of marketing at University of Dortmund (Germany) and worked as lecturer at University of Muenster (Germany). Markus was visiting professor at the University of Alabama (USA), Florida Atlantic University (USA), and Aston Business School (UK).

Markus Blut is professor and chair in marketing at Newcastle University Business School. He was assistant professor of marketing at University of Dortmund (Germany) and worked as lecturer at University of Muenster (Germany). Markus was visiting professor at the University of Alabama (USA), Florida Atlantic University (USA), and Aston Business School (UK). Over the years, he published more than 120 articles in specialist journals, books, and proceedings; notably in the field's leading Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, and International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Service Research, Industrial Marketing Management, and International Marketing Review. Moreover, his research has won several best paper awards at leading marketing conferences (e.g., ANZMAC Annual Conference). Markus’ research investigates interesting and relevant problems with an attempt to develop impactful conclusions. He is also editor of the book series Applied Marketing Science. The current focus primarily lies in service and retail marketing/management.

 Markus is director of the Newcastle Service Marketing Research Group. The mission of the group is to generate and disseminate new knowledge of best practices in this field, and educate the next generation of leaders in service marketing and management.  The research of the services group focuses on how to contribute to the success of service organizations by improving the quality of their services, increasing their profitability, and stimulating service innovations. Particularly, the group examines service technologies and service innovations and how new technologies are designed to create novel services and thereby to improve either the customer’s service experience or improve company profitability. In his research projects he regularly works together with firms such as BMW Bank GmbH, McDonald's Germany Inc., Mercedes-Benz AG, Merck Ltd., Robert Bosch GmbH, Siemens AG, and T-Mobile International AG. His research was sponsored with more than 1.6 Million Euro by the German government.
